Rafael Fingerlos and Rico Gulda, artistic leaders from Salzkammergut Festwochen Gmunden and OÖ. Stiftskonzerte respectively, present an exclusive festival project together for the first time. The centerpiece is Franz Schubert's timeless Lieder cycle 'Die schöne Müllerin,' which remains highly relevant even after his 200th birthday. This cycle, often considered the first narrative song cycle of early Romanticism, consists of 20 songs that follow a young wanderer's journey from hopeful departure through longing and confusion to quiet resignation and death by the river. Set within the context of the season's theme, Schubert's masterpiece serves as a profound reminder to be mindful in dealing with personal expectations, contradictory feelings, and internal and external limitations.
